For 28 years, from the amateur to the semi-pro era in 1989 and the professional era from year 1993, our domestic league is still a D-grade league. Even the Japanese League which took a few pointers from us in the beginning has now surpassed ours and attained grade A status.
This results in our domestic teams not being (ACL)qualified to compete in the Asia Champions League, even through the play off stage
Ranking
FAM stated through its Secretary-General that the FIFA ranking is NOT important. So the question is, what IS important to them??
The FIFA Calendar is released every 4 years whereby all the dates for competitive and friendly matches, draws, meetings are scheduled FOUR YEARS earlier, and these dates are announced beforehand to all FAs that are affiliated with FIFA.
Many countries are able to schedule their domestic league and international friendly matches four years EARLIER to avoid scheduling conflicts. Why isn’t this the case with FAM, even though they too are informed of the dates earlier??
The excuse given all this while by FAM is that no international teams would agree to a friendly match with the Malaysia national team, but although this seems to be true, we have to look at the REASON behind these constant rejections. This seems to be the case because FAM only send out invitations for friendly matches to other countries 3 – 4 months before the match date, whereas other FAs have scheduled their friendlies years earlier, so they are unable to accept the invitation by FAM. The conclusion is that FAM has not been lying, it is just they have not performed their responsibilities efficiently. WHICH IS A LOT WORSE.
is he dumb or stoned?
Inefficient administration and management
HYPERLINK "http://www.fifa.com/associations"www.fifa.com/associations states that Malaysia is the only country where there are more registered FA officials (11,810 people) than there are registered players (9,930 people).
What is the rationale behind this uneven number of players and officials? Even the worst ranked country does not require more officials than players in order to be the worst.
The Japanese Football Association employs only 45 staff-members to run and administer football in Japan. Their league is ranked ‘A’, their men’s team has consistently qualified to the World Cup and ranked 30th in the world, and their women’s team has won the World Cup
Whereas FAM employs 78 staff members to run and administer Malaysian football. Our ‘D’-ranked league is run chaotically, we have never qualified to the World Cup, we are sitting ‘pretty’ at the 156th position, and our women’s team, what women’s team?
28 Dark Years
We can talk about the sorry state of the state FAs, (mis)management, coaches, tactics, players, grassroots development, promotion and fans till the cows come home. But to make it easier, we are pinpointing the one source; THE REFUSAL OF THE FAM PRESIDENT TO STEP DOWN FROM HIS POSITION.
28 years under the current president’s administration, 17 national coaches have been employed and duly sacked for the failure to achieve success with the national team. The Secretary General has been replaced four times during these long and dark 28 years. So have the vice-President, the pitch, the paint coat of the FAM plaza façade, the FAM staff-members; yet our football now seems to be getting worse. What else should be replaced??? It doesn’t take a football pundit to realize that within the past 28 years, only one aspect of Malaysian football has not been replaced; THE PRESIDENT OF THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION OF MALAYSIA.
How much longer are we willing to wait for glory? We Malaysian football supporters DEMAND a change within the ranks of FAM; from the top to the very bottom; complete with a set of new direction and outlook in improving Malaysian football. There is only one thing that we haven’t tried for the past 28 years; the removal of the emphatically useless FAM President. We; the Malaysian football supporters need to do this one last thing, as everything else has been done already. So what say you? ARE YOU IN OR ARE YOU OUT?
