MANCHESTER: Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson reckons Wayne Rooney will be able to surpass the 42-goal haul of former star Cristiano Ronaldo but will be happy if star striker Wayne Rooney hits 40 goals this season.
“We’ve got nine more games to go in the league and then the Champions League matches. He is in great form and should be able to go on scoring.”

“I’m delighted with his form and he scored a brace against AC Milan. I’ll be happy if he gets 40,” he said at a press conference after the announcement of Manchester United’s five-year sponsorship agreement with Telekom Malaysia (TM).
The partnership deal, the financial commitments of which have not been disclosed, was sealed at Old Trafford yesterday by TM group executive officer Datuk Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa and MU’s chief executive officer, David Gill.
Both parties were happy with the deal.
Asked which team he would prefer to meet in the Champions League quarter-finals after United crushed AC Milan 4-0 at Old Trafford on Wednesday to make the last-eight stage, he said: “Any one of them The competition is so closely matched that it wouldn’t really matter. When we were drawn with AC Milan, I though, bloody hell, its AC Milan. But we’ve got there.”
“There are now just eight teams. We can meet anyone one of them. We have to go out and win, like the perfect show that we put out last (Wednesday night)”
